Does your insurance coverage meet your needs?
6/2/2021 (Permalink)
I am sure that you have thought about a fire escape plan as well as checking on your smoke detectors. But have you ever thought about what happens to all the stuff in your home in the case of a fire? Renters, homeowners, and condo insurance policies have contents coverage that helps get your contents cleaned or replaced following a fire.
Contents coverage can vary depending on the policy. It is important to make sure you have enough content coverage for the worst-case scenario. The best way to come up with this number is to spend a weekend and inventory your house, especially the more expensive items. Not only will this help you with deciding how much content coverage you will need, but it also will be beneficial if you do ever experience a fire. By having your own inventory of items, you can work with SERVPRO of Milwaukie/Happy Valley and your insurance company easier to make sure that all of your contents are either being cleaned or replaced.
Following a fire, call SERVPRO of Milwaukie Happy Valley to help you make your contents “Like it never even happened.”
Memorial Day

Memorial Day!
This United States federal holiday is observed on the last Monday of May to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the military. In 2021, Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 31.
There are many ways to observe the National Moment of Remembrance, both formally and informally. The moment of silence can be observed more formally at places such as a veterans cemetery, park, picnic ground and can include playing ‘Taps’, the military bugle call that reflects on the glory of those who have shed blood for us. A bell can also be rung at the beginning and end of the one minute of remembrance. Please try to remember to explain the meaning of this holiday to the youth in your family.
Have a Safe and Wonderful holiday!
Keeping the kiddos busy!

Parents have turned into teachers!
If you have children then you know we have all turned into teachers and our dining rooms have turned into classrooms! Here are some tips and ideas that can be used to keep the kiddos busy, keep your sanity and still have a little learning involved.
1. Let them be involved in cooking a meal. Assign your child a specific day for dinner, let them pick out what's for dinner (within reason of course) and let take ownership for the meal they created.
2. If you have a home office and are utilizing it, create a mini version for your little one. Kids copy everything and they get a kick out of being just like you!
3. Most importantly, take time for yourself, if that means hiding in the bathroom just to get a break..so be it! SERVPRO of Milwaukie Happy Valley is here for you!
Baking Safety Tips

1. Don't eat raw cookie dough. We know it's delicious and oh-so tempting, but don't eat any kind of raw cookie dough, even if it doesn't have eggs in it or it is prepackaged.
2. Hand washing after handling eggs. One easy way to do this is to wash your hands with warm water and soap.make sure to scrub them well and for at least 20 seconds!
3. Keep countertops clean. Many holiday cookie dough recipes require you roll out your dough on the counter. Once you are finished sanitize using a sanitizing spray or rinse for cleaning counters. Mix one teaspoon bleach to 1 quart water to keep your baking workspace safe and clean.

Girls Night Out Event: Damsels in Defense
5/8/2015 (Permalink)
In September of 2011 two friends founded a company based on their desire to empower women. Mindy Lin and Bethany Hughes created "Damsels in Defense" to fill a market they felt was sorely lacking. Their vision was to create a line of self-defense products that was functional, safe and fun. Their mission is to equip, empower and educate women. Through stylish yet effective products they have succeeded in making women take the initiative to both arm themselves and to learn basic survival tactics. With the rate of crimes against women on the rise, their company has seen significant growth. With over 8,000 Independent Damsel Pros nationwide they are well on their way to meeting their mission of equipping, empowering and educating the women of the world one damsel at a time.
SERVPRO of Milwaukie/Happy Valley along with Safelight are happy to be offering a free Girls Night Out event so that you can learn about the company first hand. Join us on Thursday, June 18th at the Denny's Banquet Room in Clackamas at 5:30 as Independent Damsel Pro Nicolette Stevens teaches us how to defend ourselves and introduces us to the product line. A light dinner will be served and door prizes will be handed out. We guarantee that it will be both fun and informative. Bring your friends! Damsels in distress don't always have happy endings; learning to defend ourselves is one of the best decisions we may ever make. Please RSVP to lana@SERVPRO9193.com or call 503-652-3997.
