Apartment Fire Safety Tips

If you live in an apartment or condo, it is important for you to know how to get out as quickly as possible in the event of fire. These tips from the U.S Fire Administration can help keep you safe
- Don’t prop open an exit or stairway door. They are specifically designed to help slow down the spread of smoke and fire.
- If a door feels warms to the touch, do not open it.
- Wait at a window and signal for help if you are unable to leave the room
- Never use an elevator in the event of a fire
- Know ahead of time where the emergency exits for your building are.
- Learn your buildings evacuation plan and practice it often, especially if you have little kids.
